30kW - 1.5MW
If you are:
- an installer
- a solar retailer
- a registered electrical contractor (REC) who is an authorised representative of the customer.
And you’re designing a solar and/or battery system:
- between 30kW and 1.5MW (e.g. commercial or industrial systems)
- with central protection - must comply with SOP 11-16 (PDF, 73kB).
You’ll need to apply and pay for a manual technical assessment through our customer portal.
You will need to pay for a manual technical assessment if you request a connection that is:
- more than the pre-approved offer
- greater than 10kW capacity per phase, or
- uses a generation type other than solar without a battery.
Manual approvals
Please be aware there is a fee for this service as one of our technicians must do a thorough assessment of the application and network conditions.
The application needs:
- details of the system you intend to install
- single line diagram (SLD). This must be in electronic format. For more information on the requirements, download our Single line diagram requirements (PDF, 799KB) and SLD example (PDF, 224KB).
Once we receive your application, we’ll send you an invoice. After you pay the invoice, our technical assessors will review your application.
Installation compliance
Compliance with a connection agreement ensures that an installation is safe for our network. We’re responsible for providing a safe and reliable energy network (grid) for our customers and workers. You’ll need approval from us before you can start installing a system for your customer.
Systems that are 30kW-1.5MW in size must be solar emergency backstop enabled. There are two options, depending on the available technology and site conditions:
- CSIP-Aus: You can only install a system that is compatible with our utility server and on our approved inverters list. No backstop exemption is available for systems greater than 30kW if internet is not available at the site. In this case you’ll need to use a Generator Monitor Network Device.
- Generator Monitor Network Device: You are responsible for ensuring sufficient space has been left for the installation of our Generator Monitor Network Device and for coordinating with our contractor on the installation.
